Yes, I decided to create a thread about the Antichrist. Why? Because, I think it's important for us Christians to know what we're going to be up against in the future. Mostly this thread will speculate (with bible reference as often as possible) on who he is and what he'll be like.
I can almost assure you that he will have max worldly disposition to achieve his goals. Such as: Striking good looks, intelligence, compassion, zeal, credible family background, massive ambition, and charisma in amounts never seen before. How do I know this? Well, think about it...
The Antichrist will be powerful on this planet. He must be someone we'll want to love. Someone who has mastered pretense to the point of practically being able to fabricate "reality". The devil will rise from politics. The Bible suggests this (Jarod, help me with the verse). So he'll probably be at the highest point of authority enabling him to have huge influence and a status of enigmatic proportion (leader of the world government?). This will allow him the leverage to be able to claim himself as God, and people will believe.
Get it? The devil is coming. In all feasibility he'll be allot like how I (not taking all the credit here, I got many of my views from other sources) described him, I'm sure of it. So be ready and careful, because when this beast surfaces (if he hasn't already) you will love him.

II Thessalonians 2:3 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"
Okay, so, from reading the rest of this chapter, it seems that the son of perdition is another name for the Antichrist. The next verse says that he will sit in the temple and try to get people to worship him as God. Also, in verse 9, he is described as coming "with all power and signs and lying wonders," which parallels with Revelation 13's description of the Antichrist's reign.
So with that in mind, I'll reference John 17:12 "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled."
Now, this son of perdition couldn't be the Antichrist... he isn't really around yet.
So... I'm wondering if Judas is the son of perdition here. The other disciples were kept by Jesus... history tells us how they were martyred for him. But Judas wasn't... ya'll know he eventually betrayed Him. I think "that the scripture might be fulfilled" could reference the fact that somebody had to betray Christ in order for the Lord's plan to unfold, and he was that guy.
Also, There was something odd about Judas' death: in Acts 1:25.. "That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place." This makes me wonder just what "his own place" is. It could just mean wherever he was headed in the afterlife in general... I would assume hell. But this phrase sounds a bit more mysterious.
So, two figures in the bible are called the son of perdition. The entire reason for this post is that I was wondering... could the Antichrist have some kind of connection with Judas (assuming he was the one spoken of in John 17) ? They are both of course pretty evil... maybe he is just another type of the Antichrist, but could there be anything more to it?
Please let me know what ya'll think!
By the way, not all bible versions have the word perdition in them, like the NIV and NLT. All of these verses were taken from the KJV, and "perdition" also occurs in the ASV and other translations.
(and I very much agree with what breakingrote has said about the Antichrist's charisma... that fellow's going to be loaded with it hardcore)

Maybe "the son of perdition" was a cultural term used to describe "one destined to be d**ned".
Just a thought
I have work so I'll think on it and post later
