Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I do not wish to do, that I do; moreover, what I hate, that I do.
Rom 7:16 If, then, I do what I do not wish to do, I agree with the Law that it is good.
Rom 7:17 But now, it is no longer I doing it, but sin that dwells in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to desire is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I wish to do, I do not do; but the evil I do not wish to do, that I practice.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do what I do not wish to do, it is no longer I doing it, but sin that dwells in me.
Rom 5:20 Moreover the Law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
What sweet words!!! What precious freedom!!! Not for an excuse to sin (we all have plenty of those already, LOL), but for the realization that it's the very nature of the Law that shows us our need for a Savior!!! Without the Law, there is no need for a Redeemer. It is only by understanding that The Law was put into place to point us to our desparate need for a Savior...
Our flesh is at war, constantly with the Spirit of The Living God within us. The sin nature at work within us is the very thing that let's us know how desparate our situation is. When the sin in our life is abounding, and the flesh wins those battles, it is then that we need to remind ourselves of the Law of Grace, which abounds even more in the face of sin and failure...
Christ reminded us that "He who is forgiven much, Loves much". Hold tight to this precious truth and remember that it was His precious Life-Blood that bought our atonement and salvation...
We WILL have struggles and trials and persecutions in this life, it's not a maybe, it's a definate. The flesh, the sin nature, is alive and well, and left unbridles will win many battles. It's only through "dying to self" (the flesh) DAILY, and allowing the life-giving Grace of Christ to reign down into our lives, that we may put to death the flesh and walk by faith and the Spirit...
When you falter, when you slip, learn the truth that David understood. When God forgives, it is complete, total and permanent. Praise the Lord for the shortcomings in your life that remain, lest we ever forget our need for a Savior!!!
God Bless...
