I recently watched (again) the Movie "Matthew", an d am impressed again, how well done this movie was...
Also called "the Laughing Jesus" or "the smiling Jesus", I feel this movie brings across the humanity of Christ without compromisinsg his Deity and Godhood...
The portrayal of Jesus in this movie (in conjunction with it being taken verbatim from the NIV Bible), was great. I think historically, we have become so fixated on His deity (do not think I am underscoring it's importance, as without it, we are in BIG trouble), that we have forgotten that Jesus was, in fact, also completely human. His humanity can not be ignored, for without it, we do not have a Savior that can truly relate to our feelings, or who can empathize with our situations. For we know that there are no temptations except those which are common to man. And if it were not for the Humanity of Christ, he would not have that ability to understand and know what it is we are experiencing. I find the portrayal of Christ as a man of emotion to be so much easier to relate to than this Cold, aloof Christ that has been portrayed in Hollywood for so many years...
Great Movie, check it out...

Completely agree!! One of the all time BEST depictions of the life of Christ ever made!
Also great is the "Gospel of John", and the classic "Jesus" film made by Campus Crusade for Christ.
The John one is also a word for word screenplay, although I believe it is the "Good News" translation.
Additionally, the same people who made the "Matthew" movie, also did one on "Acts"! Also Highly recommended!!
